Ingredients
4 bell peppers, halved
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 large onion, sliced
16 ounces cremini mushrooms, sliced
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 pounds sirloin steak, thinly sliced
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
16 slices provolone
Freshly chopped parsley, for garnish
How to make Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 325 degrees.
Step 2: In a large baking dish, place the peppers and bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes until tender.
Step 3: In the meantime, heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 4: Once the oil is hot, add the onions and mushrooms, then season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 6 minutes until soft.
Step 5: Add the steaks to the skillet and season with extra salt and pepper.
Step 6: Continue to cook for 3 minutes more, stirring occasionally before stirring in the Italian seasoning.
Step 7: To the bottom of the baked peppers, add the provolone and top with the steak mixture. Add another layer of provolone on top and broil for about 3 minutes until golden.
Step 8: Once done, remove from the oven, garnish with parsley, and serve.
