PREP TIME: 10 mins | COOK TIME: 10 mins | TOTAL TIME: 20 mins | SERVINGS: 1
I first saw this recipe on Pinterest. I thought I should give this a try, and I did! I didn’t expect that it’ll be a success. With three ingredients and only ten minutes to prep, it is hard not to fall in love with this Egg in a hole. A fun breakfast meal that your whole family will enjoy!
INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons butter
1 slice Texas Toast
1 Egg
salt and pepper
How to make Egg in a Hole
Step 1: Press a hole in the centre of a slice of bread using a biscuit cutter or rim of the glass.
Step 2: Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Evenly coat the skillet with the butter before adding in the slice of bread. Into the middle of the hole, crack the egg. If desired, toast the centre of the bread, too.
Step 3: Cook the egg for about 30 to 45 seconds until it sets, then seasons with salt and pepper. Turn the bread on the other side, season, and cook for a minute more.
Step 4: Allow the egg to cook until you get your desired doneness.
Step 5: When done, remove from the skillet and serve immediately.
NOTES:
Your goal is to have a toasted golden brown bread with an egg, and the key is to keep an eye on them while cooking. I figured that medium heat works great.
Cook the egg yolk until you get your desired doneness. Try runny yolk because it is super delish!
