Easy to prepare, inexpensive, hearty, and delicious Beef Tips & Gravy that your whole family will love! With extra tender meat in a super-rich and flavorful gravy, this dish is easily stretch to your liking. You are welcome to add leftover veggies to this dish or serve with leftover rice, potatoes, pasta noodles for an easy meal.
Ingredients
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion chopped
2 lb cubed chuck or stew meat
10 ½ oz beef broth
10 ½ oz French onion soup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
salt & pepper to taste
To Thicken Gravy:
3 tbsp cornstarch
1/3 c water
How to make Beef Tips & Gravy
Step 1: Heat a tbsp olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
Step 2: Season the beef with salt and pepper and cook in small batches in the hot oil until browned. Once done, transfer the cooked beef to a plate and set aside.
Step 3: Adjust the heat to medium and add the rest of the oil. Saute the onion for about 10 minutes.
Step 4: Add the beef back into the pan and pour in the broth, soup, Worcestershire sauce, and add in the bay leaf. Bring the mixture to a boil and cover the pot. Simmer over low heat for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until beef is fork-tender.
Step 5: Combine the cornstarch with 1/3 cup cold water and add this into the pot a little at a time, stirring continuously until the sauce has thickened according to your preference.
Step 6: To taste, season with salt and pepper and remove the bay leaf. Serve warm over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta noodles. Enjoy!
