Perfect for a weeknight dinner or a simple dinner date, this easy and quick spicy garlic shrimp is packed with flavours, textures, and character!
INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon honey
2 tablespoons chilli oil with chilli flakes Lao Gan Ma (add regular chilli oil, add 1 1/2 tbsp chilli flakes)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
10 cloves garlic, chopped
2 pounds peeled and deveined 31/40 shrimp
1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine, rice wine, or white wine (if you don’t want to consume alcohol in your cooking, use water)
3 green onion, chopped
1 red or green chilli, sliced (optional)
handful cilantro, roughly chopped
fried shallot or french onion for garnish
lemon or lime wedge
How to make 4 minutes spicy garlic shrimp
Step 1: In a small mixing bowl, combine the oyster sauce, honey, chilli oil with chilli flakes, and black pepper. Set aside.
Step 2: Melt butter in a large skillet over high heat. Saute the garlic with the garlic sauce for about a minute until the edges are a bit golden.
Step 3: Stir in the shrimp quickly with the garlic.
Step 4: Pour the wine into the skillet and deglaze.
Step 5: Stir in the sauce mixture and turn the heat off. Cook the shrimp for not more than 2 minutes.
Step 6: Add in the chopped green onion, chilli, and cilantro. Stir.
Step 7: Before serving, garnish with fried shallot and lemon or lime wedges.
NOTE:
For a full-on experience, toss linguini, spaghetti, or zuddles in this spicy garlic shrimp.
