I have always wondered how naan is made so last night I went to the internet to look for recipes. I was so glad to know that it was very easy to make! Oh, man, give this recipe a try. They taste exactly like the ones we eat in restaurants. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 tsp sugar
1/2 c warm water
1/4 ounces active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
2 1/4 c all-purpose flour
1/2 c plain yoghurt
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp oil
some oil, for greasing the skillet
3 tbsp melted butter
Directions:
Step 1: Add warm water, yeast, and sugar into a small mixing bowl. Stir until well mixed and allow it to rest for about 10 minutes.
Step 2: Put the flour onto a flat surface, then cream a well in the centre.
Step 3: Pour the yeast mixture into the well as well as salt, oil, and yoghurt. Knead for 10 minutes or until well mixed.
Step 4: Cover it with a damp towel and allow it to sit at room temperature for 1 hour to rise.
Step 5: Cut the dough into 8 even parts.
Step 6: Roll each dough into an 8-inch round shape. I use a rolling pin for this.
Step 7: Place a skillet on the stove and turn the heat to high.
Step 8: Drizzle a bit of oil. This will help prevent the dough from sticking.
Step 9: Add the dough into the hot skillet and cook both sides until done. Repeat the process to the rest of the dough.
Step 10: Brush each naan with melted butter.
Step 11: Serve immediately and enjoy!
Note:
Add more flour if the texture of the dough becomes too sticky.
