Ingredients:
Meatballs:
1 pound Ground Beef (we used ground round don’t use anything too lean; we want some fat for flavour)
1 tsp Salt
½ tsp Garlic Powder
½ tsp Onion Powder
¼ tsp Black Pepper
1 egg slightly beaten
¼ c Bread Crumbs plain
Canola Oil for frying – enough to cover the bottom of a large, deep skillet with ¼ – ½ inch of oil (about 1½ c)
Gravy:
3 tbsp Butter
3 tbsp Flour
2 c Beef Broth
½ c Half & Half
Directions:
For the Meatballs:
In a large mixing bowl, add the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, egg, bread crumbs, salt, and black pepper. Use your clean hands to mix everything.
Create 20 small meatballs out of the mixture.
Place a large deep skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Add 1/2-inch of oil and allow it to become hot.
Add the meatballs into the hot oil and fry for about 5 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
Remove from the heat and transfer the meatballs onto a clean plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
For the Gravy:
Discard the oil from the skillet, then place it on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Add butter and allow it to melt.
Add the flour, then whisk and cook for about 2 minutes.
Add the beef broth gradually and stir continuously until well blended. Simmer for a few minutes.
Put the meatballs back to the skillet and toss until well coated with the gravy. Reduce the heat to medium-low.
Cover the skillet with a lid and cook the meatballs for about 15 minutes. Make sure to stir from time to time.
Add half & half, then stir until well blended.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for another 5 minutes. Add more seasonings if needed.
Serve the meatballs and sauce over mashed potatoes or egg noodles. Enjoy!
