This is a wonderful recipe. Pretty versatile, you can also use it to make peach, blueberry, sweet potato, and pumpkin filling. These perfectly fried Apple Pies are some of the best pies I’ve made this year. Made with just four ingredients and ready in less than ten minutes, these pies are sure a must-try!
Ingredients
1 pot of cooked apples
sugar to your taste
spices (cinnamon, cloves, apple pie spice) to your taste
peanut oil for frying
How to make Fried Apple Pies
Step 1: In a saucepan, place the peeled, cored, and sliced apples with a little bit of water. Cook the apples slowly. You can add a little cornstarch to the sugar if you end up with too much liquid to thicken it up. Remember to add the sugar once the apples are cooked. When done, remove from the heat and let the apples cool.
Step 2: For the crust, you can use a can of biscuits. Just make sure not to use buttermilk biscuits. The kosher salt in this brand makes little holes in the crust when frying.
Step 3: Pout a biscuit on a floured pastry sheet. Roll it out if making a crust. To seal it off better, dampen the edge of the dough using your fingertip. In the centre, place around 1 1/2 tsp of filling, then fold. Press a fork around the edge. Turn the dough over and repeat.
Step 4: In a skillet with hot peanut oil, lay the pie. Fry the pie until golden brown. Flip and continue to fry the other side. Make sure to keep an eye on the pie to keep it from burning.
Step 5: When done, transfer the fried pie on paper towels to the drain. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon mixture. Serve and enjoy!
