Ingredients
1 large onion diced
4 cloves garlic minced
2 lbs ground beef
2 c. elbow macaroni noodles uncooked
3 c. water
1 tbsp beef base or bouillon
2 15-oz. cans diced tomatoes (one petite diced)
2 15-oz. cans tomato sauce
3 bay leaves
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tsp paprika
2 tbsp Italian Seasoning
1 c. cheddar cheese shredded
Fresh Italian parsley chopped
1 tbsp Seasoned salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
HOW TO MAKE AMERICAN GOULASH
Step 1: In a large stockpot, cook the ground beef until brown. When done, set the browned beef aside after draining, leaving about 1 to 2 tbsp grease in the pan.
Step 2: In the same pan with some of the ground beef grease, add the diced onion and saute for approximately 5 minutes over medium heat until tender. Now, add the garlic and cook for a minute more.
Step 3: Place the ground beef back in the pot. Add the water, beef base, cans of tomatoes and sauce, soy sauce, bay leaves, seasoned salt, Italian seasoning, paprika, and black pepper. Stir well and bring to a boil. Put the lid on, decrease the heat to low, and let the mixture simmer for about 20 minutes.
Step 4: Now, add the noodles to the pot and stir to combine. Replace the lid and continue to simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes or until al dente, stirring often to prevent the noodle from sticking to the bottom.
Step 5: When ready to serve, stir in the cheese and garnish the goulash with some fresh parsley. Enjoy!
